We want to WELCOME you to Sanger ISD. As Homeless and Parent Liaison, Mrs. Foster is passionate about engaging community involvment in support of students success in the classroom. Mrs. Foster began with Sanger ISD in the fall 1999 as Parent Liaison for Chisholm Trail Elementary, eventually serving as Parent Liason for all campuses in 2001. In addition in 2002 she began serving as Sanger Independent School District Homeless Liaison. Mrs. Foster and SISD Community Partners initate and implement a vast array of community support programs to serve our Homeless Students through both the SISD Families in Transition Program and the SISD Community Support Programs.
Community Support Programs ~ Outreach programs consist of SISD Mobile Resource Center...."The Purple Bus" with Homework assistance, Lending Libary and tutorials each Monday and Tuesday afternoons from 4-5 p.m. in various locations around our city throughout the school year. In the Summer the bus is staffed and maintains an extensive route every Wednesday morning from 8-12 noon as a summer mobile lending library. Sanger ISD Community Outreach also conducts a "BACK TO SCHOOL" assistance program with qualifying identified students. These students receive assistance with a backpack, basic school supplies, clothing items and shoes all of which is supported through community partnerships upon enrollment or at the beginning of the school year. Additional outreach programs includes the "FRIDAY BACKPACK" program supplying weekend and extended break emergency food for identified qualifying students as well as serving as a classroom site for Adult ESL Classes through a partnership with Denton ISD Adult Education offices. Families in Transition Program ~ The Families in Transition program supports students who are experiencing housing issues and qualify under the McKinney Vento definition of lacking a fixed, regular and adequate nightime residence. The Families in Transition program can assist these students with enrollment, birth certificate, basic school supplies, nuturitional programs, transportation, and community referals for additional needs.
Community Service Booklet ~ Sanger ISD Community Outreach Center compiles a Referral Booklet for anyone to utilize when researching assistance. Booklet is updated annually and available in print through SISD Counselors, School Nurses, Denton County COOP, Sanger Crisis Center and through SISD Community Outreach Center.
