2016/2017 CHARGE POLICY

It is Sanger School District’s intent that children not be hungry at school; however, it is the responsibility of parents or guardians to provide their children’s lunch or breakfast, or pay for meals provided by your school

Pre-K Through 5th Grades - Your elementary child will only be able to charge one (1) hot breakfast meal and one (1) hot lunch meal; however, once your child has reached this limit, they will be able to charge two (2) alternate breakfast meals consisting of a piece of toast, an apple and a milk and (2) alternate lunch meals consisting of a cheese sandwich, fruit and milk. Students will be charged $.75 per alternate meal. After your full pay child has accrued charges of $7.15 or your child on reduced lunches has accrued $2.20, they will no longer be able to charge until all charges are paid. We will attempt to send home notifications with your child to make you aware of the charges, but we cannot be held responsible if these notices don’t make it home.

6th Through 12th Grades - Your sixth grade child will only be able to charge one (1) hot breakfast meal and one (1) hot lunch meal; however, once your child has reached this limit, they will be able to charge two (2) alternate breakfast meals consisting of a piece of toast, an apple and a milk and (2) alternate lunch meals consisting of a cheese sandwich, fruit and milk for lunch. Students will be charged $.75 per alternate meal. After your full pay child has accrued charges of $7.50 at Sixth Grade Campus or your child on reduced lunches has accrued $2.20, they will no longer be able to charge until all charges are paid. We will attempt to send home notifications with your child to make you aware of the charges, but we cannot be held responsible if these notices don’t make it home.

Students that apply for the free/reduced meal program are responsible for the cost of their meals until the application has been processed and the parent has been notified of the status.

There is no charging for students at any campus who qualify for free meals.

No ala carte charging at any campus. (ice cream, chips, juice, etc.)

Teachers may charge from payday to payday. If a teacher does not pay their charges within 2 days of getting paid, they may not charge again until all charges are paid in full.

All charges will stop for the last three weeks of school.

This policy has been approved by the Sanger ISD Board of Education.
